Funny Story - So after we adopted Shippo and Zora we had to eventually register them with the city. This happens once a year when someone comes to each house in order to perform a Hydro water meter inspection. While here they will ask if there are any dogs or cats in your household that need to be registered.
Mandy and I, having no idea when they would drop by, were enthusiastically playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on our new Wii system. We were just about to enter Castle Town when the doorbell rings. Immediately my 9Lbs pup is madly barking at the door like the guard dog she clearly thinks she is, but isn’t. We pause our game and awkwardly and unwillingly get up to answer the door.
Dun-Dun-Dun
What do you know it’s the water meter inspector. So we show him the meter, answer some questions and walk him back to the door. As he’s leaving he asks if we’d like to register any animals. Firstly we tell him about Shippo who lives with our grandparents half the year and under Mandy’s care for the other half. He then proceeded to ask for the other dog’s information as well. I chimed in by saying “Her name is Z-O-R-A”, at which point he looks up from his notepad to both Mandy and myself and surprisingly remarks “Oh, like from the Video Game you guys are playing?”
OKAY NOW HERE’S WHAT’S CRAZY! He never saw our TV screen once! He simply heard the pause music, recognised it and realised that I… named my dog after the water people from the video game Zelda, and he was right, I did. #NoShame #NoRegrets
