Just Bought Our Otakuthon Tickets

Image
We just purchased our tickets for this years’ 2017 Otakuthon convention and are really excited! It will be held at the Palais-des-Congrés again, from August 4th-6th. For those of you who don’t know what Otakuthon is, it’s a convention held in Montreal every Summer showcasing Japanese pop-culture such as Anime, Manga, Gaming, Cosplay, JPop and much more. It was started up in 2006 by the Otaku Anime club at Concordia University, and is now considered the 2nd largest Anime convention in Canada after Toronto’s Anime North. Other than going for the sheer pleasure of seeing everyone’s amazing cosplays, the convention offers many events and rooms to check out as well, such as workshops, guest panels, karaoke, a maid cafe, an awesome masquerade, and our favourite the MERCH room! You can click on the link to find out more about the convention on Otakuthon’s official website. One thing we were delightfully surprised to find out is that Canadian YouTuber Tristan Gallant, better kn

Model and Costume Design: Rosie         Photography and Editing: Mandy Hey Guys! It’s Rosie here, and I just wanted to share some of my cosplay journey. In Montreal we have an annual convention for anime called Otakuthon. I had a few friends who were going and I decided to tag along, but there was no way I’d show up without a costume. Now keeping in mind I was very new to this, had about one month, and I’m also a perfectionist, it was hard to pick a character I could get done in time; after much deliberating I chose Misty from Pokemon! Hold up! I know what you may think, Misty is overdone at conventions and usually isn’t a cosplay with much effort. However, I grew up loving Misty and really wanted to do her character justice. Once I had my character chosen it was time to get to work. First I had to gather as many reference photos as I could, since I really wanted to do well on details and impress my fellow cosplayers despite the low budget costume design. These ar

Hey Guys! Here’s Rosie as arguably one of the best video game characters of all time - LINK! with her furling Zora. Funny Story - So after we adopted Shippo and Zora we had to eventually register them with the city. This happens once a year when someone comes to each house in order to perform a Hydro water meter inspection. While here they will ask if there are any dogs or cats in your household that need to be registered.  Mandy and I, having no idea when they would drop by, were enthusiastically playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on our new Wii system. We were just about to enter Castle Town when the doorbell rings. Immediately my 9Lbs pup is madly barking at the door like the guard dog she clearly thinks she is, but isn’t. We pause our game and awkwardly and unwillingly get up to answer the door.  Dun-Dun-Dun What do you know it’s the water meter inspector. So we show him the meter, answer some questions and walk him back to the door. As he’s leaving

Hey Guys! Hope you like our new comic of Mandy cosplaying as her favourite InuYasha character Sango, along with Shippo as himself... Yes our furling’s name is actually Shippo due to his fox tail and adorable snaggletooth, just like his namesake.

(From left to right -> Mandy & Rosie) We have been wanting to start a blog for years now and finally did it! We’re still new to the game though so excuse our Noob status and we hope you enjoy our posts. Btw does the background from the image look familiar? It was inspired by a wallpaper of one of our favourite animes. That image was used as our Desktop wallpaper for years so it only felt right to do a little shout out! Can anyone guess which anime it’s from? Let us know.
