I'm Batman!

Image
In the past, for Halloween I always looked at my favourite female superheroes/antiheroes for inspiration like Catwoman, Rogue, Storm, or Raven, but not this year. This year I’m going as the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the World's Greatest Detective, I’m Batman (if only in this comic).     Batman was always my favourite superhero of all time; he didn’t have any special powers, he had the best villains, and he had great sense of justice and detective skills. Also who doesn’t like a dark and brooding hero?   Happy Halloween!      Stay Obsessed ~

Be Good!

Image
It’s that time of year again, where everyone is filled with a mixture of excitement and dread… it’s back to school time! Well not for us, but for some of you. Glad those days are behind us.     There is always that younger sibling though who can’t bear to be separated from their older sibling, thinking it to be unfair that they get to go to school and make new friends. Not yet realizing just how lucky they are that they get to stay at home. If anyone is wondering what Rosie was like as a child they have to look no further than at Mei from “My Neighbour Totoro” by Studio Ghibli. It’s actually what this comic was inspired by. Whenever we watch it it’s almost like seeing a flashback of our younger days, especially Rosie’s bobble-head and big mouth, which is why she got the nickname Chibi early on 😂     Stay Obsessed ~

2017 Otakuthon Experience

Image
Some people might be reading this and thinking “Otakuthon happened in August, why are you guys only writing about it in September?” Like we mentioned in a previous post we’ve been dealing with some health issues and so we are a little behind, but we still wanted to share our 2017 Otakuthon experience, so we hope you guys will forgive our tardiness.       Otakuthon which takes place in Montreal, is a convention for those interested in Japanese Pop-Culture. So basically for those who like anime, manga, cosplay, video games, etc, this is the convention for you. There are always tons of great artists and cosplayers who turn up. You can go on Otakuthon’s official website to see all their updates and stay posted about who is on their guest list, which events and panels they’re hosting, and just overall news. You can get great deals if you pre-register and buy your tickets online during the first early bird round. We talk more about Otakuthon ...

Just Bought Our Otakuthon Tickets

We just purchased our tickets for this years’ 2017 Otakuthon convention and are really excited! It will be held at the Palais-des-Congrés again, from August 4th-6th. For those of you who don’t know what Otakuthon is, it’s a convention held in Montreal every Summer showcasing Japanese pop-culture such as Anime, Manga, Gaming, Cosplay, JPop and much more. It was started up in 2006 by the Otaku Anime club at Concordia University, and is now considered the 2nd largest Anime convention in Canada after Toronto’s Anime North. Other than going for the sheer pleasure of seeing everyone’s amazing cosplays, the convention offers many events and rooms to check out as well, such as workshops, guest panels, karaoke, a maid cafe, an awesome masquerade, and our favourite the MERCH room! You can click on the link to find out more about the convention on Otakuthon’s official website. One thing we were delightfully surprised to find out is that Canadian YouTuber Tristan Gallant, better kn...

Misty Cosplay

Model and Costume Design: Rosie         Photography and Editing: Mandy Hey Guys! It’s Rosie here, and I just wanted to share some of my cosplay journey. In Montreal we have an annual convention for anime called Otakuthon. I had a few friends who were going and I decided to tag along, but there was no way I’d show up without a costume. Now keeping in mind I was very new to this, had about one month, and I’m also a perfectionist, it was hard to pick a character I could get done in time; after much deliberating I chose Misty from Pokemon! Hold up! I know what you may think, Misty is overdone at conventions and usually isn’t a cosplay with much effort. However, I grew up loving Misty and really wanted to do her character justice. Once I had my character chosen it was time to get to work. First I had to gather as many reference photos as I could, since I really wanted to do well on details and impress my fellow cosplayers despite ...

Hey! Listen!

Hey Guys! Here’s Rosie as arguably one of the best video game characters of all time - LINK! with her furling Zora. Funny Story - So after we adopted Shippo and Zora we had to eventually register them with the city. This happens once a year when someone comes to each house in order to perform a Hydro water meter inspection. While here they will ask if there are any dogs or cats in your household that need to be registered.  Mandy and I, having no idea when they would drop by, were enthusiastically playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on our new Wii system. We were just about to enter Castle Town when the doorbell rings. Immediately my 9Lbs pup is madly barking at the door like the guard dog she clearly thinks she is, but isn’t. We pause our game and awkwardly and unwillingly get up to answer the door.  Dun-Dun-Dun What do you know it’s the water meter inspector. So we show him the meter, answer some questions and walk him back to the door. As he’...

Hey Guys! Hope you like our new comic of Mandy cosplaying as her favourite InuYasha character Sango, along with Shippo as himself... Yes our furling’s name is actually Shippo due to his fox tail and adorable snaggletooth, just like his namesake.
